Realizó el servicio militar durante dos años en Vitoria. Allí estuvo como asistente para un capitán y cuenta que solo trabajaba por la mañana y a las tardes iba a trabajar al campo ya que las tenía libres. Antes de irse a la mili se hacía la fiesta de los quintos.
