Other poetic genres
In this section of the Archive we wish to collect a series of traditional poetic subgenres although we are aware of the difficulties of establishing definite clear boundaries and definitions. In first place we distinguish them from lyrica songs and narrative-romance songs due to their briefness and due to their lack of chant. The subdivisions that we have made are determined by reasons of easy identification than to scientific criteria. Consequently, in Proverbs, we have grouped all testimonies of rigorous content. In Guessing games, all types of enigmas. And in Prayers, we have included all the subgenres belonging to pledges. Ttraditional toasts can be very similar and even assimilated to the bacchic songs previously defined. In the section, other genre, we wish to collect, on the one hand, other lyrical compositions not identified with the prevous subgeneres and on the other, all the works of improvisers ("repentistas") (four, ten line stanzas) and of the "bertsolaris" (verse makers).
