Archives of the immaterial heritage of Navarre

Introduction

Polyphonical, collective authorship, a joyful return to "docere, delectare, movere" belonging to the most vigorous, valuable and profound tradition. A polyphony of emotions, subtle transmission of values (some overcome, others still prevailing). A discovery of a land of imagination, of plurality in this kingdom of Navarre. To explore it by learning to abandon yourself to the pleasure and excitement, to converge instead of diverging.

This polyphonic and collective impulse is what has illuminate the realisation of an Archive of the Immaterial and Oral, Sound, Audiovisual and Textual Heritage of Navarre, a project that has progressively been enriched with the aid of new technology and the contribution of numerous collaborators and co-authors.

It has become the response to the cultural hazards of growing globalization, such as the suffocation of imagination; uniformity; the erosion of social values; and the illusion of referentiality, that is, to succumb to the delusion of accepting as absolute and real what the techno-scientific-rationalist discourse shows without perceiving its limitations and the existence of other essentially anthropological and vital dimensions. Since this impulse of imagination (substantial and synthetic anthropological category, which enables our comprehension of culture and ability for symbolization source of all fears, hopes and all the cultural outcome of the human being) confronts us with our ethos and our cosmo-vision, but also with our misinterpretation of others, root of indifference, distrust, fear and even hatred that pierces our coexistence.
