The article presents the criteria and strategies for thoughtfully incorporating narrative folklore or local legends – with the aid of experts – into local cultural and touristic products linked to thematic paths and parks. The authors focus on the case of the preparation of thematic paths through Istria and Pohorje and the identified narratives – collected from archives and gathered through field research – that serve as the basis for the creation of the other products. The main goals are preserving narrative tradition and raising awareness among local residents as well as visitors.
