Japan is paying attention to Washoku culture, dreaming for Japan Wave to rise again in 2017. Being registered as Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2013, Washoku(和食: Traditional Dietary Cultures of the Japanese) has become Japan's distinct attraction and has been selected as a subject of important industries for new development policies. Having registered for World Cultural Heritage and holding the Olympics, Japan has maintained its focus on the value of Japanese food as cultural heritage creating international tourist brand, and adopted internationalization of its culture through Japanese food which is a medium of cultural experience as important tasks. Japan's cultural policy aims to ultimately link culture with Japan’s growth by creating amicable network around the world which can inspire good impression and favorability towards Japan. Japan is implementing strategic and aggressive cultural policies to expand the influence of Japan's brand and international position by sharing its culture with all around the world. The national objective to make Washoku as cultural code, producing fans of Japanese culture throughout the world, is already getting a positive response. Japan's cultural policies revealing Japan's urge to achieve globalization by actively developing cultural promotion businesses is significant to us, considering the fact that cultural businesses are forming a great part as a higher value added business today.
