Cuando empezó la guerra hubo 6 personas, conocidas por ser socialistas, que tuvieron que ir de voluntarios con el bando franquista. Uno de ellos era el padre de Benito. Por medio de un conocido, Jaime Del Burgo colocó al padre de Benito en Dantxarinea
