Siempre ha habido equipo de fútbol en Olite, el Erriberri, aunque él no podía acudir mucho por el trabajo. Un hijo jugo de futbolista una temporada. Cuando era crío no pudo jugar mucho porque a los 9 años se fue de pastor y no tuvo tiempo. Recuerda un juego que se jugaba con una bufanda retorcida a perseguir a los demás.
